Using the app

Where are my recordings stored?
On your device. If you've enabled iCloud sync, they are also mirrored to your own iCloud account (private database — we have no access). Nothing goes to our servers.
Why can't I save more than 10 routes / 5 photos / 3 Follow my trace recordings per month?
These are the free-tier limits. GPX Map 3D Pro unlocks everything — €2.99/month, €19.99/year (7-day free trial) or €49.99 lifetime. Settings → GPX Map 3D Pro.
How do I enable Follow my trace background recording?
On first start you'll be prompted for Location (grant "Always") and HealthKit permissions. The HealthKit workout session is what keeps GPS running when the screen is off. If you denied either prompt, go to iPhone Settings → GPX Map 3D → re-enable Location (Always) and Health permissions.
How do I use the Apple Watch app standalone?
On the Watch, tap "Record on Watch" from the idle screen. This requires GPX Map 3D Pro, grants Location and HealthKit permissions on first use. Recording works even when the iPhone is far away or off.
My recording stopped mid-hike — why?
On iOS, Low Power Mode can suspend GPS. Keep Low Power Mode off while recording. If the issue persists, make sure "Always" Location permission is granted in iPhone Settings → GPX Map 3D.
How do I share a route with a friend?
Open a route from your library → Share icon → choose "Share via iCloud". Your friend receives a link they can open in GPX Map 3D on their own device. Requires GPX Map 3D Pro.
Can I export a route as a plain GPX file?
Yes — open the route, Share icon, "Export GPX". Works on the free tier.
Why does Discover show no community routes near me?
The community library depends on routes that users have voluntarily published. If no one has published in your area yet, nothing shows up. Try searching a well-known hiking region (Alps, Pyrénées, GR 20) or publish your own.

Billing and Pro

How do I cancel my Pro subscription?
iPhone Settings → tap your name at the top → Subscriptions → GPX Map 3D Pro → Cancel. We don't handle billing — it's all through Apple.
I bought Pro but the app still shows as Free. What do I do?
Settings → GPX Map 3D Pro → "Restore purchases". If that doesn't work, make sure you're signed into the same Apple ID that made the purchase. If still stuck, email us with your Apple ID (not the password).
Can I get a refund?
Refunds for App Store purchases are handled by Apple, not us. Go to reportaproblem.apple.com → find the purchase → Request Refund.
Is my Pro subscription shared across my iPhone, iPad and Mac?
Yes — as long as all devices are signed into the same Apple ID. Tap "Restore purchases" on each device after installing.

Technical

Why does the app ask for Photos permission?
To let you attach photos to your routes. We read the EXIF GPS tag from each photo you select so it's placed at the right spot on the map. Photos are copied into the app's own storage; we don't access the rest of your library.
Does the app work offline?
The core (recording, loaded GPX viewing, saved routes) works fully offline. Features that need the network: downloading community routes, weather forecasts, place search, BRouter planning, map tiles for areas you haven't visited before.
I found a bug. How do I report it?
Email [email protected] with: iOS version, iPhone/iPad/Watch model, what you did, and what went wrong. A screenshot or screen recording helps a lot.
